Default DeVeDe not working

Hello, everyone

I am using OpenBSD 4.8 .32bit on Thinkpad T23 PIII 1.13 GhZ, 1GB RAM, 16MB video.

I installed package DeVeDe version 3.16.6 and couldn't create VCD, sVCD or CVD. It will stop in the middle of the process.

On DeVeDe website I found out that version 3.16.8 has fixed bug preventing
to build VCD, sVCD and CVD.

Is there a way to get version 3.16.8 or newer to install on OpenBSD 4.8?? or did anyone found the fix for it? I've searched the net and forums and couldn't found anything on it.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

and

Merry Christmas

The latest version in the ports tree is 3.16.6, you could contact the maintainer and ask them for assistance.. and upgrade to a snapshot to help them test it.

This GUI is just a frontend to existing tools in the ports tree, you can still create your video disc by using them instead... if you took the time to learn how to use them.

DeVeDe is just a python script, dependencies are listed on the site, if you have the older package installed you should also have the appropriate dependencies to run the latest version extracted in your home directory.

I don't get why people use fancy GUI wrappers like that.

BSDfan666,

Thanks for super fast respond. I will look what is it in the ports again to do this from command line. (I just did not know which to use from /usr/ports/multimedia)
I did recognized DeVeDe and that is why I installed the package.

I am not a huge fan of fancy GUI either otherwise I would be running Ubuntu or something (Which I did and did not like it, found OpenBSD and I am now 100% convert to BSD). I do most things from terminal when I can.
I am still learning and love to learn.

thanks again

I use ffmpeg with mplex and dvdauthor to create the ISOs I need. I used to use far more complex tools, but no longer bother.

jggimi,

Thanks for the info, I am already playing with ffmpeg, I will download mplex and dvdauthor.

I also found vcdimager. I should have everything to get the job done.
