Default OpenSMTPD continues to mature!

I saw the following tasty morsel on source-changes@ tonight, & knowing there are a few here who have installed OpenBSD's evolving replacement to sendmail(8), they may be intrigued by the following announcement by Gilles on its current state:

My mail server runs OpenSMTPD for a few domains and I am more than pleased. It is a refreshing replacement for Sendmail, and even though smtpd doesn't have 1500 pages of "features," my needs are met.

A few months ago after having a working OpenSMTP mail server, I sent an email to Gilles thanking him, and would like to again extend thanks to him and the other developers for smtpd.

There's a feature missing which I need in order to run a tiny mailing list, via majordomo or any other service. I've had one followup Email from another user with the same need.

I believe gilles@ & co. are already well aware...

I was worried that this project had died after not hearing about it for quite some time. Glad to know that it's alive and kicking, thanks for posting the update Ocicat.

I will be setting this up OpenSMTPD all my OpenBSD servers in place of the grotesquely overwrought sendmail.

From what I have read off google(ing) OpenSMTPD, sound great. Sendmail has alwasy been such a pain to configure for newbies. It's rock solid, but not very simple and easy to get started with. OpenSMTPD looks to be a promising alternative.
