My upgrade to 5.9 had a bit of a problem, so I decided to make a fresh start and re-installed the system. For some reason, the installer could not detect the iwn-2030 firmware, which was not a problem when the system was originally installed as 5.5 and upgraded thrice before installing 5.9. The result is the system cannot establish an iwn0 link. Without an internet connection running fw_update is not of much use. Firmware is available at
http://firmware.openbsd.org/firmware/ as iwn-firmware-5.11pl.tgz. I am assuming I can download it onto a USB drive and install it, but what is the installation procedure? I have never done more than cursory research into this kind of thing and I do not have access to the administration notes I have been compiling.
If ifconfig and dmesg readouts are helpful, I can get them later. Right now I am using a GParted live disc.
I could re-install 5.8. That would give me a working system, but would not solve the problem. I shall be scouring the internet for the next little while looking for clues, but any help, suggestions or admonition would be beneficial.
