Default Formatting fat32 drive quickly

is there a way to format fat32 drives quickly under FreeBSD?

I'm formatting a 1TB drive under BSD and it's taking forever. I'm just using the command: 'newfs_msdos /dev/da0s1' and my drive is on USB 2.0.
