I wrote about it here: https://andinus.nand.sh/writings/Ope...t-failure.html

AFAIK the fix is to either install OpenBSD in legacy mode (non-UEFI) or use older boot-loader. I tried replacing the boot-loader but that didn't work (most likely I made some mistake), so I installed in legacy mode.

If you haven't upgraded on target machine yet then you can manually upgrade it: https://www.openbsd.org/faq/upgrade68.html - just skip the boot-loader part.

There's an uncommitted patch in snapshots for testing, per theo@. ref: https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-misc&m=160390222432642&w=2

So will fix be backported to 6.8 release? or wait for snapshoots/6.9 release?

Thank you andinus,
Thank you jiggimi, good to see you alive and well.

I have been away from OpenBSD, but atleast i keep coming back. Will relearn PF before i might eventuly try to understand this manual patching.

At this time, the patch is uncommitted -- it has not yet been committed to -current (a future 6.9-release). I recommend testing the patch, and reporting your results to the Project via its mailing list, because additional testing will be required to determine if the patch has any negative impact or needs further work to incorporate all affected systems. To my recollection, at least one person reported it did not solve the problem for their particular hardware.

If the Project commits the patch to -current, only then will it be part of the next release. And then the Project members (the developers) will decide if the patch should be elevated to 6.8 errata status.
