Default Mac OSX Leopard - Parallels 3.0 & BSD

Need some help, I have a macbook pro with os x leopard I have Parallels 3.0 and was going to start getting in FreeBSD, wondering what recommendations you all may have for someone trying to get his feet wet, I have some experience with *nix but need to open my horizons.

I have FreeBSD 6.3 & FreeBSD 7

1- Which would you recommend on using? 6.3 / 7?

2- After install what window manager would you all recommend?

3- Any thing I should be aware of using Parallels with BSD?

I have 7 installed and running with Gnome, but my video res was extremely large and I could not adjust the screen res (probably my lack of *nix knowledge)

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

1) FreeBSD 7-RELEASE-p3 (need rebuild world, to get as far as i know [It's easy])
2) fvwm-devel, the best ever... you can configure it to behave almost like any other windowmanager, but you will need to read a lot...., but that is worth it
3) Backups system/data, before you do anything

What is your monitor size in pixels?

This is my screenshoot
100% custom config

Here's the information on my video / monitor:

GeForce 8600M GT:

Chipset Model: GeForce 8600M GT
Type: Display
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 128 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0407
Revision ID: 0x00a1
ROM Revision: 3175
Displays:
Color LCD:
Display Type: LCD
Resolution: 1440 x 900
Depth: 32-bit Color
Built-In: Yes
Core Image: Hardware Accelerated
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Quartz Extreme: Supported
Display Connector:
Status: No display connected

I'm not sure however if the video driver carries over to the guest OS, I have xp-pro running via Parallels, and in the device manager it lists the video adapter as: Parallels Display Adapter

So would I need a specific Parallels driver for BSD?

Sorry for all the questions this is new turf and a learning experience.

wtf is parales, as far as i know, you sould be ok, with nvidia driver from ports
you will need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf, before you start X

make sure you install freebsd i386, there are no (good) video driver on 64bit platform

Parallels = http://www.parallels.com/

Desktop Virtualization program that allows you to run guest OS's.

I did install the i386 version, my current X11 directly does not show any files in it

ls

returns nothing.

I have tried running through xorgconfig and it errors out, working with the people at parallels to get it resolved, I'll post the results. Unless you have any other things for me to try?
