Default Unable to install on Alienware m17x

Hi, I try to install Freebsd 8.1 (amd64) on my laptop since a few days now and the only screen message I get from booting the CD is this (I copyed everything in case anyone could see something I missed) :

CD Loader 1.2

Building the boot loader arguments
Looking up /BOOT/LOADER... FOUN
Relocating the loader and the BTX
Starting the BTX Loader

BTX loader 1.00 BTX version is 1.02
Consoles: internal video/keyboard
BIOS CD is cd0
BIOS drive C: is disk0
BIOS 631kB/1832704kB available memory

FreeBSD/i386 bootsrap loader, Revision 1.1
(root@mason.cse.buffalo.edu, Mon Jul 19 01:54:42 UTC 2010)
Loading /boot/defaults/loader.conf
/boot/kernel/kernel text=0x8d5503

that is where it get stuck. My current hardware setting :

laptop : Alienware m17x
proc : intel Core 2 P8700 (64 bits)
HDD : Samsung SSD PM800 256GB

Thanks for your help!

I don't anything about alienware specifically, try going into the BIOS and disabling ACPI or things such as Firewire or anything else you don't need to boot. Then after install, you can re-enable one by one to see what is causing the hang.

I had a Hypersonic machine that just would not boot with Firewire enabled.

Many thanks to you, I'm right now on FreeBSD and it is working perfectly! After a few reboot and enable/disable like you suggested me, the option in my bios that was causing trouble was "USB emulation".
