kind don't know if this topic is available elsewhere here but if it is sorry about double....
here it is the petition for FreeBSD native flash, found on PCBSD forums.... http://www.petitiononline.com/flash4me/ regards rayden |

Presumably if this happens the way they are talking about it on the newsgroups :

Honestly as much as I dislike Flash, it does have its uses, it would be nice to be able to jump on youtube occasionally or listen to a bands streaming songs on myspace without having to fire up wine and hoping that it won't crash. |

Such a petition doesn't work. There are a lot of them and nothing happens.
Watch out for mails on freebsd-advocacy@. People like Matt Olander are already in contact with Adobe. http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.c...eebsd-advocacy |

But many (most?) sites use flash8 or 9, and refuse to play. |

Adobe certainly wouldn't come out and make a FreeBSD flash plugin if absolutely no one had ever mentioned the idea to them; they'd realize the need doesn't exist and would be a waste of time and money. |

IMHO the best way is to contact the company directly like Matt did. |

Signed. Why not after all? I'm not disturbed by the lack of decent flash support in FreeBSD. I tried gnash (which was very unstable) and swfdec (which was slightly better). I think it's a matter of time. Both those projects are evolving rapidly.

I think petitioning for retarded webdevelopers to remove flash crap from their sites would be a better idea.

Carpetsmoker has the right idea ;-)
Although I'd rather use a sledge hammer then a petition with some of the sites I've seen...

I am now on a flash site (Windows machine) with music which I cannot turn off ?!?!
I am playing a game (With sound) in windowed mode ... Nice, thank you Mr. adobe and Mr. Webmaster, you are much more wise than I am, and YOU and not I should decide whether or not I want webpages to play sound.. This is even worse than installers with music you can't turn off! AARRRRGGHH!

well i'm also a web developer and even i don't like flash it's becoming present in all web sites, many things that are done in flash many of them can be achieved by using js, but still many people intend to use it... So why not put it under **BSD, i hate to admit it but it's growing very quickly, i haven't like how the programmers grow in knowledge using each day more and more system resources, i still remember the days when people do things for the hardware that all people have and not what the people should have, but that's part of the process of evolving...
