How to compile MySQL in FreeBSD 7?
I read on MySQL's pages that MySQL/x86 compiled by ICC gives 20-30% better performance than the one compiled by GCC. Unfortunately the binaries they provide are Linux only.
How can I compile MySQL using Intel C compiler on FreeBSD 7? Is there any tutorial/ script etc that I can use? I don't have much experience with Intel compiler. Does ICC expire after the trial period? or is there a free version for single user? Thanks in advance! |

If you want better performance and scalability of your database, then use PostgreSQL and script that will convert your MySQL database to PostgreSQL format.
ICC is in FreeBSD Ports by the way: Code:
/usr/ports/lang/icc # cat pkg-descrThis is Intels C/C++ compiler, it is set up to produce native FreeBSD binaries.
