laptops and uptime ..

Hi everybody !

is it true that laptops are not meant for long uptimes ?
how can a long uptime be detrimental to laptop hardware ?
is it conceivable to use a laptop as a 'light' web server (lighttpd - thttpd - cherokee - nostromo) ?
