Default OpenBSD 5.0 - How to enable dfs ?

Hi.

After 4.8 produced a kernel panic on high network load on my Mac Mini G4 1,5 I successfully updated to 5.0 today. Many changes from 4.4, but it's still the good old OpenBSD.

The 5.0 Release Notes are mentioning a newly added feature called "Dynamic Frequency Switching" on some macppc systems. I'm wondering, how can I enable dfs or to check on which frequency the processor currently is running?

Any ideas?

Here is a link to the dfs(4) man page for 5.0-release on the macppc: http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.c...pc&format=html

In it, you will see a description of the applicable hardware. If this driver is loaded, you will see it in your dmesg. Please also note that there is a SEE ALSO section that refers you to both a driver for on-board GPIO controllers, and to sysctl(8). I assume, therefore, that you will be able to use the sysctl hw.setperf or a similar hw.* sysctl setting.

I suspect the first place to check is dmesg(8) output, although I don't have any other information as to what to look for or how to set it if present. I suspect you will have a better chance of getting in contact with the requisite developers if you post on the project's official macppc@ mailing list. This is what appears in the logs:

Code:
cpu0 at mainbus0: 7447A (Revision 0x102): 1249 MHz: 512KB L2 cache
No entry in sysctl. I already checked the other man pages. But still I have no clue whether this feature is enabled or not.

I expect dfs0 would appear in your dmesg, but only if you had an Apollo 7 or 8

Okay. So it seems that both my Mac Minis are neither of the Apollo series.
