I suspect "xfce" obtains the time the same way other applications do...

My advice is that you setup an NTP daemon, that'll keep your system time set correctly... assuming you configured your timezone properly.

XFCE seems to have support for its own timezone setting. To access the settings, right click on the clock. I currently don't have a timezone set, and my clock is displaying the correct time.

Actually, I just set it to the correct timezone and it is still displaying the correct time. I did have issues with it in the past, but can't remember exactly what they were.

Remove the clock from the panel and use Orage instead.
Sure the time can be set, but Orage is soooo resourcefull.
I have two clocks set: Local CET time and Chicago time.
You can "add" as many Orage to your panel, one per timezone you wich to survey.

I had thought that Orage had replaced the clock, and had assumed delboy was using Orage. Bad assumption. I have to agree with lvlamb though, ditch the standard clock and go with Orage, it is much better and more customizable.

tldr; My previous post applies to Orage and not the clock.
