Default flac to mp3

Hi!

How to convert .flac to .mp3 file with fbsd 6.3 ?

Question is not specific to freebsd at al.

My recommendation on un*x is to use mplayer.
Read mplayer manual.

You can use audio/flac to decode the flac:
% flac -d file.flac

And then use a mp3 encoder such as audio/lame to encode the file to mp3:
% lame file.wav file.mp3

If you plan on using it often or with large files, I'd suggest reading the manuals and seeing if you can pipe them: e.g. $ flac [args] | lame [args] [> file.mp3].

It's less messy on the disk drive ;-)

or as fall back, he can create ram disk, and use it as temp space to convert

You may want to have a look at flac2mp3. It is a perl script that will convert flac files to mp3's. It will even convert the tags.
