Default Upgrade from 6.5 to 6.6 failed

Upgrade by cd, ends at installing bsd
Code:
/mnt: write failed, file system is full
ftp: Writing -: No space left on device
Installation of bsd failed. Continue anyway? [no]
Then when I try to boot from disk I get
Code:
boot>
booting hd0a:/bsd: 12666184+2937864read text
 failed(0). will try /bsd
boot to single user fails

Trying to fsck mount from cd shell doesn't work, but fsck and mount appear to work when I try to autoinstall. This still fails after apparently fixing errors and mounting drives.

You might have missed the Upgrade Guide:
Quote:
Before rebooting into the install kernel

Check diskspace of /usr. Verify that the /usr partition has a size of at least 1.1G. With less space the upgrade may fail and you should consider reinstalling the system instead.
From your problem description though, it appears your hard drive's root directory is the problem, or at least the initial problem.

Recovery may be possible, but you'll need to know what filesystems you have on that hard drive, how full each is, and what needs to be removed / replaced in order to recover.

If you did not back up /etc and /home before starting your upgrade adventure, you should be able to do so from the RAMDISK kernel shell.
