Hello,
I think that C/C++ and SH/BASH are great languages! There may be others that are fine, but I am still too unfamiliar with them to be able to say that I like or dislike them.

As a matter of fact, I do.

Bah! After walking through six feet of snow, both ways, we used to have to make our own punch cards from wood pulp from tree branches laying on the ground. The only way we could actually punch holes in the cards were with our teeth. The incisors specifically. The good programmers could punch four holes at once using the two upper and two lower pointy teeth. The really good programmers could do three holes.

Hopefully my first post on this thread is clear enough on what I prefer.

Assembler and Haskell.
Assembler for small things like micro controllers. Haskell for coding something complicated, I think its syntax helps to break the problem down. Although I wrote a lot of TCL, it is very easy to write an get a program up and running, but I do not like how the resulting program looks in the end. Ruby is interesting because of Rails, however I am more impressed by Squeak and Seaside. Forth needs an honourable mention too, I have used its ideas many times. |

PHP is an open-source server-side scripting language. It's widely supported language. It's the best general purpose web language.

LISP is my favorite. Not for practical reasons, just my favorite.
For practical purposes, I chose Java and Perl. |
