Default I need like to install DenyHosts on OpenBSD 4.9!

Greetings to all,

Has anyone been able to install DenyHosts on OpenBSD 4.9 running on SPACRstation5?

I have read on this forum that it's a very good tool to aid in limiting brute force attacks on ssh. The information I gather thus far is that Python (python python2.3-dev) needs to be installed.

I have looked in http://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/4.9/packages/sparc/
and found several versions of python and did not see python(v)-dev.

Can some please suggest the correct version that would work with my system and the best way to install it.

Again I would like to thank you for you assistance.

Regards

What's wrong with using OpenBSD's PF? It can do the same job.

If you are not familar with PF, I suggest reading PF FAQ and pf.conf(5). There's an excellent tutorial on PF, which also covers brute attacks.

You'll find Python 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6 in your nearest mirror's 4.9 sparc packages directory.

See http://denyhosts.sourceforge.net/requirements.html

OpenBSD doesn't separate package libraries and headers into "developer" packages, so unlike many Linux distributions when you install python it will include everything.
