MPlayer?
Quote:
MPlayer is a media player. It plays most MPEG/VOB, AVI, ASF/WMA/WMV, FLV, RM, QT/MOV/MP4, Ogg/OGM, MKV, VIVO, FLI, NuppelVideo, yuv4mpeg, FILM and RoQ files. You can watch VCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivx, DivX 3/4/5, WMV, and even H.264 movies, too.

H.264 is a codec that is commonly used in embedded media and hmtl5 enabled browsers can open the file directly.
Youtube video codecs
Firefox 4 and above along with the webkit based browsers will play. Firefox 9 had html5 improvements and works very well using the WebM codec. Webkit based browsers use h.264 and of those xxxterm and epiphany are stable (OpenBSD 5.1 current) while midori often core dumps.

If possible i would like see h264 from inside Firefox so now I installed:
mplayer
and
gecko-mediaplayer
but i can't see h264 video.
On about : plugins isn't listed h264.

So i installed even:
# pkg_add gstreamer-plugins-ugly

# pkg_info -L gstreamer-plugins-ugly | grep 264
Quote:
/usr/local/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstx264.so
/usr/local/share/gstreamer-0.10/presets/GstX264Enc.prs
but, again, don't work and on about : plugins isn't listed that format.
How resolve this issue?

Note:
Once this problem is resolved perhaps i install even a browser webkit based, my initial idea was midori, but on the stable release is too old while on openports require an update even at some dependency library.
On Linux the recent release are good but if on OpenBSD often dumps i prefer avoid it.
Xxxterm: Surfing like a Vim pro
seem nice but i don't confortable with Vi-like commands ...
Anyway later i eventually give a try even at it.

I do not know about the video source you are using but for youtube video you have to enable your browser (it places a cookie) at the site I linked in my previous post.

Yes i use youtube html5 but using Firefox i'm on this situations:

while i can see low quality webm (with HD video i have problem).
I already accept cookies.

While seem right using xxxterm, where the h264 is green, but actually i don't find any h264 youtube video for make a test.
Someone can give a link? So that can I test it?

If you build or install Chromium you should be able to view HTML5 video in the web browser.

Unfortunately my laptop would seize tight with a hardware lockup everytime I tried this using the latest snapshot. I think it might have something to do with the non-free firmware my laptops video chipset uses.
