Where is path to firmware set?
After installing a snapshot I get this mail from Charlie Root:
Path to firmware: http://firmware.openbsd.org/firmware/5.9/ Updating: radeondrm-firmware-20150927 wpi-firmware-3.2p1 Error from http://mirror.bytemark.co.uk/pub/Ope...ackages/amd64/ ftp: Error retrieving file: 404 Not Found http://mirror.bytemark.co.uk/pub/Ope...ackages/amd64/ is empty "5.9" should be "snapshots". And why is it looking in mirror.bytemark.co.uk anyway, instead of firmware.openbsd.org? I know I can download the file and install it manually with loadfirmware but why is the path wrong? Actually I think something is wrong generally, because when doing snapshot upgrades I always have to change the default path that I'm offered in order be able to fetch the new files. But I can't find any configuration file that sets the default path. (Apart from /etc/pkg.path, but as far as I know that only relates to userland packages.) |

The Project is currently preparing 5.9-release. Your snapshot was installed during a transition period where the toolchain points to "5.9" rather than the "snapshots."
You can manually issue fw_update(8) to point it to the correct path, using the -p option. The correct address is http://firmware.openbsd.org/firmware/snapshots/ You may also need to adjust your pkg.path(5), if you installed filesets over the network, and revise %c to "snapshots" in similar fashion. Once 5.9-release has been tagged, the next snapshots will begin referring to snapshot directories once again. There's been a discussion about this in a recent thread. See the presentation (and the video) regarding release engineering in this thread. |

Thanks very much for the swift reply. Do I need to have /etc/pkg.conf at all or is it enough just to set my pkg_path via ~/.profile?
