While I believe that is going to be the future, if Mozilla is involved, I think I'll retire.
Personally, I think a common, much more sane and coherent version of the whole rest/mvc web thing should merge with GUI toolkits, and there no longer be a dinstinction between web app running off a cluster and a program running off ones own computer.

I really don't think the future of applications is the Internet, there will always be a place for reliable local computing environments.. placing all your trust in some 3rd party service is closed minded, and it's definitely not future-proof.

Didn't say the Internet, so much as the technology from making web apps. Web application development done Right often has much to do with (local) application development done right.
The mixture of HTML/CSS/JS and client/server architecture has its uses. If you use X11, even more so it's related to local apps.

I would seriously disagree with you but it's been too long since I've worked with all that to argue. And I'm too tired.
