Openbsd 5.1 review on Distrowatch.com
As a relative newcomer to Openbsd, I decided to write a review of the 5.1 release for Distrowatch.com from a desktop user's perspective. Openbsd has come a long way in terms of improved hardware support and ease of setup and my experience has been very positive.
The review is at Distrowatch.com in their news section. I would post the url but the forum software does not allow new members to post urls. Perhaps one of you would be kind enough to post it in a reply in this thread. Have fun Ralph Ellis |

Yeah, the bit about no 2D and 3D acceleration is not true. In fact, the 2 video card mentioned (an AMD HD3200 and HD4650) should have both 2D acceleration and basic 3D acceleration.

I have 8 Gig of memory.
The video performance is surprisingly good with the open source radeon driver. The big differences are a smaller choice in the number of resolutions and I have not figured out how to get sound to play through my HDMI output to my TV when I watch video there. The frames per second are not as good in mplayer with the radeon driver vs the proprietary one but VLC does quite well. |
