Cool Uptime

I'm still getting my feet wet with FreeBSD, I'm enjoying myself immensely. I use my BSD box as a work station.
I've read that BSD has legendary uptime. What is the longest you've had a BSD server and or work station running? I just booted my box this a.m., it has been running a few hours.
I thought this might be a fun thing to discuss. I am curious to hear about first-hand accounts of killer uptime.

Lolzz, less than 3 hours?

Mine:

I will be reallocated in 3 months, so probably my best uptime record is only 7 months

Yeah, I know, not a lot of uptime, just booted-up this a.m.:-) But, it isn't a server, so I don't need it to be running all the time.

My file server runs largely from one power outage / heavy thunder storm to the next without shutdown. My longest uptime is probly 34~68 days, but was switched to OpenBSD just before 4.0 was released .

Anyways, I don't think uptime matters too much. Unless you're able to apply security fixes while it is running, you're going to have to reboot sooner or later for updates.

I did run across a thread on the freebsd-chat mailing list the other day with some crazy uptime though: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/f...er/005719.html

Again, it would be crazy to have a machine like that connected to the internet.

FreeBSD 4, the family of branches that never knew when to die, or when to reboot xD.

I heard the most sleepless guys are telephone equipments. They are normally up for 30, 40 years :S

Not sure if they run any kind of Unix variants.

The longest uptime I had was 812.5 days. This was a FreeBSD 4.11 system. Probably would still be going if it wasn't for external factors (had long duration, scheduled power outage). That box has now been going for 264 days without reboot (after the scheduled shutdown, the OS was upgraded to FreeBSD 6.3 and the hardware was updated a bit).

So 3 years with one scheduled reboot on generic white box hardware. Not too shabby.

I like to do this:
http://tad1214.homeunix.com/
http://tad1214.homeunix.com/uptime.html

135 days is my current record.

I formatted it better about half way down.

Also all shutdowns were due to power outage, hardware upgrades (new hdds installing tonight), or relocation. I have never had my server crash on me ever, or rebooted for software/OS reasons. This is a Samba/MySQL/WWW/SFTP/FTP(closed right now, no use for it) server running 6-Stable until tonight when it will be running 7-stable, oh yea, Sparc64, so even non main stream architectures are stable.
