And what Toshiba model do yo have?
Right now I am using a Toshiba Satelite 6100 which is working fine with a 20 GB IBM harddisk, but refuses to detect the disk in BIOS if I try to use a 80 GB Toshiba disk. I never found out why. |
Sorry it took me so long to reply to this. Toshiba Model A215-S4757, the hard disc is a Fujitsu MHX2250BT, 250GB S-ATA Specs here. Mainboard is Toshiba IALAA v1.00 with ATI RS690 chipset and SB600 Southbridge.

You can make experiment.... put hdd disk that ain't recognized and install win XP SP2, if you cna do that, Then you need to update bios, if not, most likely your hardware is to old I had same problem on my old PC |

No luck mate. The BIOS is already at the latest version (2.00).

you need Livefs Cdrom (enter fixit mode) Code:
$ mount -t msdosfs /dev/da0s1 /mnt (i suppose you got flash key) $ dmesg > /mnt/dmesg.log $ umount /mnt |
Also check in your bios config for raid options or something...
I had problems when i changed ATA drive to SATA.... and i had to mess with some raid modes and stuff, to get my hdd to work..... (well my board is Abit AS-8, but see if anything in bios) |
