Gnome 3 Released
Per the Title Line: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/devel.../msg00004.html
The links in some the other Open Source News sites are not active. Anyone tried the "Gnome Shell"? Anyone aware of possible issues porting to BSD? Last edited by shep; 7th April 2011 at 07:42 PM. |

There's no official or supported release for Gnome3 on FreeBSD Tier2 architectures.I'm the only one building Gnome3 for Sparc64 and will do another build for ppc. Since both NetBSD and OpenBSD provide more support for more architectures, you may want to see what the status for gnome3 is on their lists.

Anyone who wants is welcome to help with these and/or other architectures.
It would be best to make packages since the Makefile will need to be edited from the standard. Gnome3 is not completely ready for the desktop but, most of the applications should build and run. NetworkManager has a lot of Linux dependencies and does not run natively. Since most people on this forum run standard equipment- x86 based(amd64, pc98, i386), then both this and my previous post shouldn't matter. |
