Thanks, jggimi. I'm glad to see some of the old-school forums are still around. |

Welcome.
"Smartphones vs Personal Computers" just about sums up my thoughts on that matter. Well said. Sadly in a purely profit driven world, the practical solutions often fall by the wayside. A toy/fashion accessory with firmware which can't be updated, once the vendor ends support, no option to change OS and which is made cheaply in the far east and sold in the west, with a huge margin, is always going be more profitable - especially with what amounts to planned obsolescence as standard. |

I'm tempted to buy two once they come out so I can donate one to the OpenBSD project, but my wife would have kittens if I spent a grand to buy two fancy smartphones and then gave one away. Maybe I should buy three so she can have one, too. |

The current version of my website promises a lot and doesn't deliver, but I'm working on it. Sorry about that.
I've run into a little snag because when I try to build my site using Jekyll on OpenBSD, it dies screaming with a "too many files" error. So I'm migrating away from Jekyll.

Hi.
|
|

Hi there. Don't be surprised if you see me on the NYC*BUG mailing list or IRC since there isn't a BUG for Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, or PA as a whole. I guess there aren't a lot of BSD users at CMU.

Shh, I'm in disguise!

There was at least one from 2005-2009.

My roommates used Ubuntu back then. I was already a *BSD stalwart.

I had switched from Gentoo (which I had installed from stage one over 56K dialup) to Ubuntu when it first came out in October 2004 because I was getting married and didn't want to fuck it up by neglecting my wife to tinker. I probably should have switched to a BSD instead back then, but learning to be a halfway decent husband was more important.
