Default Question about some stupid dependancies

I don't have a printer, and I don't plan on using one. That's why I've deinstalled the cups-base port. Now when I'm trying to upgrade the ports collection I'm getting
Stale dependency: arts-1.5.8_1,1 -> cups-base-1.3.7_3 (print/cups-base):
And lots more. Aterm is dependant on cups-base, audacious too.
Why?
Is there a simple way to say "Just deinstall that shit, and make nothing to depend on it"?
And I can't really see how a music player, that doesn't have a 'print' button or a simple x terminal would need something about printing...

Try setting WITHOUT_CUPS=yes in your /etc/make.conf

All ports may not respect this, but some will.

This is not very good to have stale dependencies in package database. Try pkgdb -fix... I am not sure about the flag, but you can easily find out it from man page. This situation is clearly described there.
