Thanks, I made a bigger VM, and it appears KDE4 installed ok, kde4-minimal-4.14.3p9.tgz is what I installed, how ever it does not start. At boot it does say "kdm started", Is there something special that needs to be done for it start ? Thanks

If I enable "xenodm", xenodm log in window does load just fine, It seems to me like , if kdm is going to be the display manager, then one would not want xenodm enabled, but any way I tried it both ways, and kdm does not start, nor kde4.

Follow the instructions in the README, Garry. I mentioned it above. Like all other package readme files, you'll find it in /usr/local/share/doc/pkg-readmes/.

If you follow the README, you'll enable messagebus, and then you'll create a $HOME/.xsession file with the last line as shown in the README.
