I suspect it will only feature new graphics, more voice acting, and a bunch of other improvements (better widescreen support and the like).

And I have to ask... what are the chances we'll ever see a continuation of the party-based Bard's Tale series many of us fell in love with 25 years ago? If Wasteland 2 is successful, would you ever consider using Kickstarter to fund a return expedition to Skara Brae?

Brian Fargo: What do you think?
Seems that classic strategic and turn-based cRPGs are back for good with fun funding

Linux is not UNIX! Face it! It is not an insult. It is fact: GNU is a recursive acronym for “GNU's Not UNIX”.

Default Turn based

Turn based RPG's were a favorite of mine (crpgs )
The first i ever played was ultima 4quest of the avatar, my golden age was FF6, and 7th saga, chrono trigger etc on the snes hehe.

Fallout and Arcanum were the "last greats" for me, although I fully enjoyed nwn1 on Freebsd with linux emulation, and DAO on wine. Dragon age 2 was just bad. characters had no customization at all(dao morrigan could shoot a bow or wield swords but in this game a warrior couldn't shoot a bow, or use a shield if he was 2h, etc) Bioware games seem to be getting more and more "EAlike" as everything seems to all blend together into one Unreal engine 3ps slashemup.

i could recommend, a few tho. The humble bundle had Avadon: The Black Fortress, and i'm waiting for legion of grimrock to come out on good ole games.

it would really be great to see some oss programmers come out with a solid 2d crpg framework that people could use to write original content, (like rgpmaker, etc)

There are a few like FIFE engine [1] and ZERO project [2]

[2] http://www.zero-projekt.net/index.ph..._id=20&clang=1

I now wait and talk the Wasteland 2 on their forums after Brian Fargo got the required $900 000 for the project to start.

I dont like fife, every time i try to get into it, i cant even get it to compile, hehe. Never tried zero-projekt. I would recommend "Flare" (formerly osare) ITs extremely easy to get up and running, but its not turnbased. It looks more like oldschool diablo1. With a little coding it could be however.
