Interesting... What did you ask? I'm curious because I've been logged into #openbsd for a few days now, and just scrolled through the last 24 hours of, but don't see anyone getting muted.

Interesting. I don't speak a lot in #openbsd. Do you have a permanent ban?

I am not sure because i always think it is system problem before. But when i back to #openbsd, i get "*** #openbsd: Cannot send to channel" when speaking.

I popped into the channel briefly and also could not send to it. Maybe my whole domain is banned. Or more likely they are having some kind of technical problem. It is after all IRC, so I would not worry.

If you haven't registered your nick or did not identify yourself some freenode channels don't allow you to speak. See http://freenode.net/faq.shtml#registering

See http://www.wikihow.com/Register-a-User-Name-on-Freenode for a howto.

I just went on freenode, typed /j #openbsd and it said I was banned. I haven't even been on IRC in a decade, so I'm not sure how I could have committed a bannable offence.

As someone who runs multiple IRC channels (though not #openbsd) you might be using a nick that was banned or be on an IP (or IP block) that was banned.

I don't hang out on #openbsd but I was able to join no problems just now. OTOH, it seems unlikely I'd get banned from there.

That's nothing. I've been banned from speaking of #openbsd. Damn, sorry for the slip up.
