Default Configuring X with 9800gt fails.

As someone brought me today a new graphics card (NVidia GeForce 9800GT), I saw it was a nice idea to try it.

Reading the nv(4), I saw that there is support for this card.

But while doing X -configure, I get the following error:

Am I reading something wrong in the man page and this card is not supported?
I know about the state of NVidia open divers (or the lack of to be exact ), but a free card is always a temptation. hehe

(massive dmesg follows)

I only see vga1 in your dmesg, yet your xorg.conf has two Card<n> Identifiers. I don't understand why there is no vga0 in the dmesg.

From Section "ServerLayout" delete Screen 1 "Screen1" RightOf "Screen0"

Delete this section:
Code:
Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Monitor1"
        VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
        ModelName "Monitor Model"
EndSection
And delete the last section:
Code:
Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen1"
        Device "Card1"
        Monitor "Monitor1"
        SubSection "Display"
                Viewport 0 0
                Depth 1
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Viewport 0 0
                Depth 4
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Viewport 0 0
                Depth 8
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Viewport 0 0
                Depth 15
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Viewport 0 0
                Depth 16
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Viewport 0 0
                Depth 24
        EndSubSection
EndSection
Then retry starting X.

Already done that. X starts, but I get
Code:
> xvinfo
X-Video Extension version 2.2
screen #0
  no adaptors present
In /var/log/Xorg.0.log I have
Code:
...snip...
[3165368.682] (II) Loading extension XVideo
[3165368.682] (II) Loading extension XVideo-MotionCompensation
...snip...
[3165368.697] (--) NV: Found NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT at 01@00:00:0
[3165368.698] (II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nv_drv.so
...snip...
and no errors.

I'm wondering why I get the xvideo error.

Because the 'nv' driver doesn't support Xv on the 9800. It barely provides any acceleration on newer nvidia GPUs..
