what is this!
I was extracting a .bz2 file and ended up with what looks like an upper case C and lower case q > Cq. The C appears to have a small line like a , coming out of the bottom. I am unable to delete or copy. Any ideas??

This new thread seems to be a repeat of this earlier thread from you, from nearly two years ago:

Embarrising
I guess I'm still a newbie nearly two years later. I was going to mention that I thought it happened to me in the past but my ego wouldn't let me.
Thanks jggimi. |

Did not work.
I went back and read the man page for rm and ksh but have yet to figure out how to remove the file. I will keep studying the man pages for a solution. |

We don't have enough information, in the directory with the stubborn file, redirect the output of ls -l into a file and attach it here.
You should avoid using non-ASCII characters in file names, as well as characters that need to be escaped.. to avoid situations where an archive may contain such filenames, use the appropriate tool to examine the contents and if possible have it rename them. Good luck. |

The answer to the question, "How do I remove a file with funny characters in the filename ?" is answered in the Unix FAQ from the old internet Usenet: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/unix-faq/fa...section-2.html |
