Nothing against the workers, who are generally good guys, but the management, employers, and working conditions are sometimes less than desirable. And if you don't have a good union, you may find your job is less than secure. I was working at a factory and I injured my back and was shown the door - they had no more use for me.

This is West Virginia. Everyone has a union. I'm surprised there isn't a labor union for programmers here.

Actually, most of my friends in construction and such fields are union workers - they get their jobs through the unions.
