Default xorg.conf is not necessary ?

$ ls /etc/X11/
app-defaults/ fs/ twm/ xdm/ xinit/ xsm/

$ uname -a
OpenBSD myobsd.zsoft.com 5.1 GENERIC#160 i386

There is no xorg.conf, and my OpenBSD desktop still works very well. Then when do we need xorg.conf ?

Sincerely!

Correct. Per Section 11.2 of the FAQ:
Code:
In the vast majority of hardware in most platforms, X requires
no configuration at all, it Just Works.

Quoting /usr/X11R6/README:
Code:
For many users of X.Org's servers, an xorg.conf file is not needed,
simply start X, and it will automatically detect and use your
hardware. If your hardware is not properly autodetected or supported
or not supported as you wish, you will have to create a configuration
file.

Moving thread to OpenBSD General forum as X11 is not found in the ports system.
