Default Biometric scanner

Greetings all, i am wondering if anyone has gotten any software working under OpenBSD (4.6) any kind of biometric scanning software?

I recall a thread somewhere perhaps here (searched but could not find) when somebody had mentioned a name of some software but I do not recall the name.

Any suggestions appreciated, and before anybody asks my scanner seems to be supported, thx;

ugen0 at uhub2 port 2 "STMicroelectronics Biometric Coprocessor" rev 1.00/0.01 addr 2

As has been mentioned before, there is support for some fingerprint readers via 3rd party devel/libusb based projects.. libfprint.

If you check the ports tree, there is an example fingerprint authentication port.. allowing you to login using a fingerprint (..biometrics is just a fad, it's not truly secure).

For the adventurous, see security/libfprint and sysutils/login_fingerprint.

You should also check their homepage, they have some utilties that haven't been ported.. but should still compile.

http://reactivated.net/fprint/wiki/Main_Page

Note; ugen(4) is a driver that all devices attach to if no other driver can.. it's a generic fallthrough device, libusb based programs can only access ugen(4) devices.

Hope that helps.

Thx BSDfan666, I do recall some mention of biometric scanner software around here somewhere but could not find any reference.

I do agree with the insecure nature of biometrics, even for local logins I will check out the software you have spoken of, thx again.

So I got login_fingerprint compiled and running, only hiccup i had not mentioned was to add the user to the "fingerprint" group, works pretty good.
