Default Real Time OS

As a few of you know, i've got a new job doing some heavy work with QNX ( and unfortunately linux ).

It seems that the rising cost of QNX is pushing us towards RTLinux. Now, I know linux in general is a complete mess of modules held together with rubber bands and it seems RTLinux is no different.

Is RTLinux a true RTOS ?
I've done some googling and seen a bit of talk about RTFreeBSD but it seems to be a kind of emulated RTOS.

I'd personally pay the extra and stay with QNX. I've learnt a lot about it and i really like what it can do and i just don't think linux is a good move.

Any input?
