newbie installation
hello. new to the area of BSD and i am trying to install through PXE in an ALIX 2D13 (pcengines.ch), openbsd.
i have followed the tutorial from https://markshroyer.com/2010/12/open...ix-via-ubuntu/ the installation starts and proceeds OK. at the end of the installation it asks for a reboot and when i reboot it comes to boot> and i cannot do anything. i have a log file attached with all the installation steps. i am trying to setup an openbsd system to experiment for my university lessons. if i type boot at the boot>boot then the system boots ok. what i have done wrong? I have several Alix 2d13 systems, and they make wonderful routers for 100 megabit LANs. Quote:

And, I have the same systems, so I understand the problem, too. The Alix system is still PXE booting, and using the pxeboot(8) bootloader, and it is looking for the full kernel "bsd". Which is on the compact flash drive, and not on the Ubuntu server. You can now set its BIOS to boot from the compact flash storage, and OpenBSD should boot normally. If you don't have the alix2.pdf manual handy, press the S key during the power on memory test to enter the BIOS configuration tool, then press E to toggle the PXE boot from "on" to "off", then press Q to quit. You'll be prompted to save settings. Last edited by jggimi; 25th July 2015 at 11:36 AM. Reason: typo |

SOLVED.
Thanks a lot for the quick, helpful and polite replies. what i did wrong is that i disabled the pxe on client machine after the the second reboot which was too late. Silly me. Anyway, it is fixed and i am in the world of openbsd now. Thanks again. |
