Default Unix dynamic duo awarded Japan Prize

From http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/01...chie_thompson/

Quote:
Gray beard Bell Labs scientists and Unix operating system co-creators Dennis Ritchie and Ken Thompson have been awarded the 2011 Japan Prize for information and communications.

Ritchie worked at Bell Labs (in its many incarnations) until he retired in 2007. Thompson held positions at Bell Labs as well as at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Sydney and is currently a distinguished engineer at search engine behemoth Google. Ritchie was the primary creator of the C programming language, arguably the most popular and cursed-at programming language in the history of the world.

Linus Torvalds as "The Penguin."

I do admire what they did.

Why did you put so much space between what you wrote? and what does Linus have to do with anything?

"The Dynamic Duo" was another name for DC Comics Batman and Robin partnership.
One of the villains was known as "The Penguin." The mascot of Linux is a penguin. If Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie are the"Dynamic Duo," then it would make sense for Linus Torvalds to be the "Penguin."

Creating a larger space between lines was for the reader to understand the parody followed by a statement supportive of the original topic.
