Default Kernel CPU type for Via C3 CPU

Hi!

What is the best CPU type to set when compiling a new kernel for a Via C3 system? From what I understand is that it's "almost" i686-compatible, but that it lacks certain features that can cause trouble if 686 is set as CPU type, and that i586 is the best you can do for these CPU's.

Does anyone here have any experience with these kind of CPU's?

Thanks!

Regards,
Markus Svensson
