Default Folding@home - You can help find a cure to COVID-19!

Lately, I've heard of Folding@home.

It's a project that is researching diseases like Cancer and Parkinson's.
It's pouring its focus into researching the Coronavirus and we can help out by downloading their client software for free. What it does is that it shares some of our unused computer power to help process protein simulations that universities abroad conduct to further understand how viruses work.

With our help, they can find a cure to the coronavirus and the more of us know about this and contribute, the sooner that happens and the more lives we save.

I'd say check it out everyone.

I'd just like to add that it's recommended to use it on a machine with a dedicated video card (e.g. Nvidia) and preferably the more powerful ones.

Won't every little bit help, even if you have a less powerful computer?

Up to a point, yes. I was running BOINC for a while last year and got some reasonable results using fairly modest hardware. However, when you start using dedicated GPU's featuring many CUDA cores, then the software will make use of it.

FWIW Rosetta @ home via BOINC is also looking at covid-19. Those are the only tasks I am getting now.

If only BOINC fully supported BSD
