Why vBulletin?
Just curious why you choose to use vBulletin over some of the other forum packages.

From a users p.o.v it sure as heck beats most phpBB2/3 forums I've visited ;-)

Personally I can't stand the UI of vBulletin. That won't stop me from using, and hopefully contributing to, this great resource though. thanks to all involved for bringing it back. |

I have seen our previous forum bsdforums.org being attacked by bots creating phony user accounts. At one moment there were over 5000 of those bots online. The forum was slow, but didn't crash.
That is why I recommended to use Vbulletin.

Ask crowds with huge forums, like cgtalk.com - it's the best you can get. They tried phpbb too and it was a mere disaster. Well you could try it again and again but to be true sometimes opensource isn't the solution. VB is the Porsche among the forums software.
