Default Apache 2.2.9 won't start

I am stumped.

I am running FreeBSD 7.0 (GENERIC) with Apache 2.2.9 built from ports with all of the defaults selected in the config. I was receiving an error message [warn] http accept filter failed to load: No such file or directory, which I fixed by running kldload accf_http and inserting the appropriate line in to /boot/loader.conf. However, Apache fails to start in anyway.

Here is the tail -f of /var/log/http-error.log:

[Mon Jul 07 23:39:44 2008] [info] Init: Seeding PRNG with 136 bytes of entropy
[Mon Jul 07 23:39:44 2008] [info] Init: Generating temporary RSA private keys (512/

I have turned SSL on and off, with no luck, and I have have turned virtual Hosts on and off with no luck.

Any ideas?

All that ssh stuff seems normal

the only warning is that it would like the SSLSessionCache turned on, and even suggests the config file tuneable to do so - even so, it is just a warning, meaning "I'll be more efficient with this turned on, sir."

Anything in /var/log/messages? Could you give us the full http-error.log (at least, everything posted by a single failed startup)? Basically, nothing you have posted hints at any problem.

No relevant messages in /var/log/messages. No start-up errors...nothing. same situation with /var/log/httpd-error.log. I set LogLevel to debug, and pretty much all of the messages returned were pertaining to SSL (no warnings. Just confirmation of keys loading, etc.)

Being as impatient as I am, I did a fresh install of this system, and used the ports tree from the sysinstall menu instead of using csup this time around. This tree built Apache v 2.2.6, and I followed the identical method I used on 2.2.9, but this time, everything works fine. I don't know if I got a rotting ports tree on my last install, or what, but something is quirky with Apache 2.2.9. I was also having problems getting PHP pages to parse (kept getting the infamous Firefox download box.) I have configured Apache numerous times across several different OSes and platforms, so I am not exactly a noob at this, but this situation is just baffling.

I don't recall the cvsup server that I used (maybe 4??? It was a US server out of San Jose, CA.)
