/dev/cd0 many megabytes

I have a root partition of only 100m, as I always did. I just found out that the filesystem was full, and discovered this:

# ls -lah cd0
-rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  53.2M Jul 20 04:06 cd0

How can I solve this?
