Default AMD Radeon cards supported by the Radeon driver for Current/5.5

I hope this is the proper sub-forum and that a post like this is okay. I know that from experience digging through mailing lists is monotonous, and Google seems to put this forum at the top of BSD related searches. Unfortunately, I hadn't found relatively recent threads about what AMD cards are well supported (not just functional) by the Radeon driver. Anyway, I got a very good response from the OpenBSD misc. list. after jggimi recommended I ask there. So, I thought I would post it for Google/posterity.

Hello all, I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on what

Anything 6800 or below, or 7 series 7600 or below. The newer cards based
on GCN architecture aren't supported as well.
Thanks again for the help, I hope this information is useful to someone else.

Edit: Also, I found a very nice article with reviews/specs/benchmarks for sub $100 cards in this category: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...urks,2925.html

Unfortunately, this is a reality of those using Open Source solutions. Sifting through online information is necessary when needs change & expand.

For posterity, guitarfreak's misc@ thread can be found at the following:

More responses may occur over time.

I just wanted to clarify that and say I didn't mean to complain by any means, I'm sorry if my post came across that way. I am truly thankful the mailing list exists at all to be searched! I just know that making a thread here tends to show up in the top search results, and so might help out someone in the future. I really appreciate the work of the OpenBSD developers and am going to make a donation, so again many apologies if I phrased my response in a way that sounded ungrateful.

The above link does not open in Firefox-ESR 24.4.0. I will confirm this corrected link.
