Default Boot stops at "reordering libraries"

I installed OpenBSD 6.6 on my i386 Fujitsu Lifebook S7220 yesterday and all went well. I was able to boot into the machine several times. Today, it booted without issue and I updated with the commands "pkg_add -uUi" which saw no changes and then "syspatch" which installed all 13(?) patches to 6.6. Modified my .xession file and shut the machine down. Later, when I tried to boot, the boot hangs at "reordering libraries" after starting the network. It then responds to nothing except turning off the power. Repeated this several times.

Any suggestions how to recover this system would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Richard

No longer a problem but not sure why. I booted the install CD and then powered off rather than select an install method. Booted the machine without the install CD and it booted perfectly. It has booted perfectly 4 times since. Must be OpenBSD magic.

Comments would be welcome.
Thanks,
Richard

I can't tell what happened from here. But ... that laptop uses a Core 2 Duo processor which is 64-bit capable. You will get more capabilities, better security, and better performance using OpenBSD/amd64 instead of OpenBSD/i386.

Check your dmesg(8) output, look for "LONG" among the CPU capability strings.

Thank you. Since it said i686 I assumed i386 and not 64-bit. Have used 32-bit Linux on it for years. I have 2 laptops running OpenBSD/amd64 and will install that on this machine. Yes, the dmesg file that I sent to dmesg@openbsd.org after install does indeed have the "LONG" among the CPU capability strings.

Thanks again,
Richard
