Default TouchPad problem on my Thinkpad R61i

Hello.

I'm running a FreeBSD 7 with Xfce4 on my Lenovo (IBM) ThinkPad R61i and I have a problem setting up my TouchPad.

I installed Synaptics drivers from my ports tree and it doesnt seem to be working. There seems to be a problem with recognizing my TouchPad.

So, here are some of the outputs, logs, config file editing, etc...

dmesg | grep psm0

psm0: <PS/2 Mouse> irq 12 on atkbdc0
psm0: [GIANT-LOCKED]
psm0: [ITHREAD]
psm0: model Generic PS/2 mouse, device ID 0

/etc/X11/xorg.conf file ->

http://pastebin.com/m4164dd17

/var/log/Xorg.0.log ->

http://pastebin.com/m22ecb41d

/etc/rc.conf ->

Added: "moused_enable="NO"" ( without these double qotation marks )

/boot/loader.conf ->

Added: "hw.psm.synaptics_support=1" ( without quotation marks )

(EE) Synaptics_Touchpad Found no Synaptics, found Mouse model 0 instead
(EE) Synaptics_Touchpad no synaptics touchpad detected and no repeater device
(EE) Synaptics_Touchpad Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Synaptics_Touchpad"

This is a part of my Xorg.0.log and i think this is the main problem. I found on an Gentoo forum that there might be a problem with my touchpad as it says here:

Quote:
3. Touchpad issues: seems that some later-model 61s are shipping with an ALPS pad, rather than the tried-and-true Synaptics. Users are having to resort to all kinds of hackery to get the useful features out of their pad.
So, what am i doing wrong?

Thank you in advance.

Greetings, _hmp_

in http://ph.ubuntuforums.com/, there is a thread,
"getting double-clicks........"
which, when the parameters (no time to copy them here) are set to match yours, might fix your problem.
one of 158 found in the google search
..........
r61i xorg.conf touchpad

Linux is not UNIX! Face it! It is not an insult. It is fact: GNU is a recursive acronym for “GNU's Not UNIX”.

Hello again.

I managed to "bypass" the problem using the moused instead of Synaptics. Works like a charm. Well, more or less.

The problem is "tap to click" or "sidescroll" don't work at all. Resolution setting is acticng a little weir. I just can't set it the way i like, either its too slow or too fast, but I'm getting used to it.

If you don't use tap and Synaptics don't work you wont mind working with moused.
