Firefox PROTIP: getting back to a normal Save As Dialogue.
Some may disagree but I find Firefox's default GTK "Save as" dialogue extremely annoying.
Compare this to this. Here's how to get Firefox to display the second one. 1. In the address bar type about:config. You will get some warning about breaking things, go right on through this. 2. In the filter bar, type in ui.allow. You should now see the preference ui.allow_platform_file_picker. 3. Double click on this to change it to false. 4. Enjoy a much easier to use file save dialogue. |

"Open" works like that, too. Thanks for that.

I've seen this before, though I haven't decide if I like it more then the GTK2+ file chooser.. but I'll keep it on one of my systems for awhile and see how it fits.
Perhaps this should be in the Guides section of the site.. |

Absolutely, no single setting will suite everyone. I'm sure a mod will move this if they want.

It should be noted that this will also work in Thunderbird, perhaps other Mozilla-based programs.
Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Config Editor.. same name. Last edited by BSDfan666; 13th October 2008 at 01:11 AM. Reason: Seems like it's been moved... :) |
