SSh pauses up

After logging into ssh it pauses for about 5 seconds every 30 to 60 seconds. so say i give off a ping and watch it will pause every so often then resume. Im able to do everything but its annoying when trying to page down say the httpd.conf file and it adds a good 5 minutes to my time.

We need a whole lot more information than you've supplied, in order to help.

One doesn't "log into" ssh; ssh is a client/server application that is used for many purposes: terminal (shell) access, file transfer, and tunnelled TCP connectivity are just some of the most common uses.

So... here are a few things I'd like to know:

Describe your configuration where "ssh" is used. What is the client OS? The server OS? What ssh software are you using? How is it configured?

What is the network topology between the client and server?

Is OpenBSD involved in your "ssh" problem? (You posted in an OpenBSD forum.) If so, in what way? As the server? The client? Both? Which release of the OS? What architecture?

Have you performed any troubleshooting, or any diagnostics? If so, what did you do? What did you find out, or not find out?
