Default xfce in fbsd 7.0 not refreshing

Hi,

I'm having some refresh problems in xfce.
Two annoying examples:
1. Deleting an icon from the desktop, leaves the icon there until xfce is restarted.
2. If deleting a file from a removable drive it cannot be unmounted until xfce is restarted. It has no effect emptying the Trash. Adding files works fine.

Anyone having an xfce on freebsd 7.0 and app. 1 month old ports tree, where this is working as it should?
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Googled a bit on it, and it seems to help disabling/enabling xfce control over the desktop in the Settings->Desktop Settings.
Yes, that solved problem 2, also after a reboot, problem 1 remains.

I've noticed this as well. I'm not sure as to what's going on. However, the reason problem two was solved is because you physically restarted the xfce-mcs-manager, if I remember correctly, which handles all of that.

This was annoying me quite a bit. So, after a bit of hunting, I found out that Xfce relies on FAM or Gamin to monitor files and update the desktop and the file manager views. By default, Gamin is installed on FreeBSD, but with support for kqueue and not the built-in Gamin poller. Compiling Gamin with support for the Gamin poller solves the refreshing problem.

To refresh dekstop, press CTRL+R. That should fix problem number one.

That's not a fix, that's a workaround. See my previous post.
