DJ Setup
So with the ULE scheduler rocking out now, multimedia is perfect IMO on FreeBSD. I have a decent audio setup in my house with a standard audio jack in, so when we have parties I kinda DJ. My motherboard (Asus P5WD2-E Premium) has 6 "audio" jacks on the back. Is there a way I can have amaroK playing on my default audio jack (connected to audio equipment) and my headphones in another jack so I listen to stuff before I cue it up (aka make sure thats the song I want?) even if I used VLC for this or some other audio program, that would be fine with me..
Thanks! -=Tom |

7.2.3 Utilizing Multiple Sound Sources is the most I know, dunno if it is of use to you or not.

A little OT, but you haven't any experience with a Serato Scratch setup or similar have you tad1214?

No experience, just read a little about them. Looks like cool stuff. Problem is I am a college student so money isn't abundant, which is required for the Serato stuff :-\

mixxx has a feature for very similar of what I am looking for. Has built in beat detection (BOM calc) and allows 2 tracks to be played at once, a fade bar, etc. I would like to go pro some day, but right now, its just for my friends @ some of our parties. There are songs I think would sound sweet next but the intro isn't quite what I thougt it would be and sounds off, but I have no way to cue it in advance. I know this is doable as they do it with some of the fruity loops software I believe.

Whoa, Mixx looks pretty cool! It is also easily pluggable with my DJM-800... Hmm

So, reviving this thread again. Mixxx seems to have fixed most of their bugs and it seems to be working good. My next question is, if I buy another sound card, can FreeBSD handle 2 sound cards at once? Mixxx has the CUE/headphones setup in the drop down so you can select different audio outputs (2 for master, 2 for headphones, 1 for each side more or less.) So, can FreeBSD support 2 sound cards?
