Default Thunderbird new mail sound notification

Thunderbird new mail sound notification is not working.

EDIT>Preferences>General > Play a Sound

^^ This is not working. I even tried selecting a sound file manually but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas ?

The OpenBSD FAQ may help you resolve this. Have you seen the Multimedia chapter?

Problem solved. Downloaded a mp3 ringtone from the web, converted it to wav and specified the file in thunderbird. Now I can hear sound when email arrives.

I've encountered the same problem on one of my two OpenBSD 6.4 laptops. While searching the Net, I saw that Gentoo forum thread

So I've added the libcanberra package (pkg_add libcanberra), restarted Thunderdird, and sound notifications worked on both laptops. I've checked, the one that already worked already had libcanberra installed.
