Like most computer programming & information technology books, this one is a sales pitch and consists almost entirely of hype. There is little pedagogical sophistication which is probably a good thing since the author has a head full of squirrels (in the sense that his perspectives often seem to involve or are closely related to interpersonal metaphors). Again, something that is very common (the norm) within computer programming & information technology. That being said, the sales pitch is more folksy and authentic than that of the common tech writer for hire. The author is actually quite experienced with the technology so that understanding is present in a first-hand fashion rather than the bluff, bluster, and rabid mind-washy battology of the typical mercenary hack hired by some pulp publisher.
